Massachusetts Progressive Party is formed.

Originally called the Progressive Citizens Action of America Political Action Committee, it assumes its subsequent name in 1948. Early members include Emily Greene Balch, Alice Stone Blackwell, Kenneth de P. Hughes, Donald Lothrop, Florence Luscomb, F.O. Matthiessen, Walter O’Brien Jr., Laura O’Brien, Vida Scudder, and Alan Sweezy.
